Engineering majors automatically satisfy the Natural Sciences and Quantitative Reasoning and Lifelong Learning and Self-Development foundations GE areas by completion of preparation for the major. Engineering majors automatically satisfy the Natural Sciences and Social and Behavioral Sciences explorations GE areas by completion of the major.
Twelve units of additional coursework may be selected from M E 499 (3 units), M E 580, M E 582, M E 585, and other 400- or 500-level courses in the bioengineering area with prior departmental approval, with at least six of the twelve units at the 500-level.
