ITEP Admission Requirements

Students apply for admission to the liberal studies major with an emphasis in integrated teacher education program (ITEP-MS) during the spring semester of their sophomore year. Students who qualify for admission the summer prior to their junior year must have a GPA of 2.7 or better, passing scores on the CBEST, a documented field experience, and a completed program application.

Additional Requirements for Subject Matter Preparation Certification

Certification of subject matter competency by the liberal studies program requires completion of all CSET-aligned courses with grades of C (2.0) or better and cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better. If a course is repeated, the highest grade will count. (See Policies and Procedures for CSET Waiver available on program website.)

Complete 46 units of lower division core and

• ENS 241A - Physical Education of Children-Theory Units: 1 (complete with a grade of C (2.0) or better) (may not be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC))
• ENS 241B - Physical Education of Children-Activities Units: 1 (complete with a grade of C (2.0) or better)

• (may not be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC))

• MATH 211 - Geometry in Elementary Mathematics Units: 3 (complete with a grade of C (2.0) or better)

• (may not be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC))

• MTHED 212 - Children’s Mathematical Thinking Units: 1-2 (complete with a grade of C (2.0) or better)
• MUSIC 102 - Music for Elementary Classroom Teachers Units: 3
• N SCI 100 - Physical Science Units: 3
• TE 280 - Health Education for Teachers Units: 1
