All candidates for a degree in applied arts and sciences must complete the graduation requirements listed in the section of this catalog on “Graduation Requirements .”
A minor is not required with this major.
Upon entry to the program, the student will be assigned to an undergraduate adviser in statistics. Thereafter, the student will meet with the adviser each semester and discuss his or her academic program. A program of study must be approved by the undergraduate adviser in statistics.
In addition to meeting the requirements for undergraduate standing and the basic requirements for the bachelor of science degree as described in this catalog, the student must complete a Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement and must complete a minimum of 60 units of coursework as described below.

Preparation for the Major
(17 units) Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement
Passing the Writing Placement Assessment with a score of 10 or completing one of the approved upper division writing courses (W) with a grade of C (2.0) or better. See “Graduation Requirements ” section for a complete listing of requirements. Additional Lower Division Coursework Required

A minimum of 36 upper division units to include Nine Units Selected from

12 upper division units in statistics, mathematics (excluding MATH 302 , MATH 303 , MATH 312 , MATH 313 , MATH 414 ), computer science, or a science of application (selected with the approval of the undergraduate adviser in statistics). Master Plan
