Spanish for the Professions Certificate

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures offers a certificate in Spanish for the professions. The program enhances the language skills and cultural competencies for a broad array of professions to include business, education, health, law and criminal justice, and translation and interpretation.

All courses in the certificate program must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better. Up to nine units in the certificate program may be counted toward the major in Spanish and six units may be counted toward the minor in Spanish.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirement for the certificate is completion of

SPAN 301 - Advanced Conversation and Reading Units: 3 and
SPAN 302 - Advanced Conversation and Writing Units: 3
or
SPAN 381 - Advanced Spanish for Heritage Language Learners Units: 3 But not both.
SPAN 350 - Advanced Grammar Units: 3
