All candidates for a degree in applied arts and sciences must complete the graduation requirements listed in the section of this catalog on “Graduation Requirements .”
A minor is not required with this major.

Emphasis in Graphic Design
To complete the major, students must fulfill the degree requirements for the major described in the catalog in effect at the time they are accepted into the premajor at SDSU (assuming continuous enrollment).
Impacted Program
The graphic design emphasis is designated as an impacted program and specific criteria, which include a portion of the Preparation for the Major, are used to admit students. To be admitted to the graphic design emphasis, students must meet the following criteria:

These courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC);
Complete with a grade of C (2.0) or better:

Have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better;
C
Students not meeting the minimum GPA may petition for special consideration.
Preparation for the Major
(30 units)
Three Units Selected from
Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement
Passing the Writing Placement Assessment with a score of 10 or completing one of the approved upper division writing courses (W) with a grade of C (2.0) or better. See “Graduation Requirements ” section for a complete listing of requirements.
Major
A minimum of 33 upper division units in art to include
Six Units of Upper Division Art Electives
Excluding ART 357 .
