Data Science Minor

The Minor in Data Science is designed to provide students the foundations to engage in this information age where data and data-informed problem solving is rampant across every discipline.  The program will prepare students to curate, manage, and analyze massive data, successfully communicate findings to relevant scientific and policy stakeholders, and understand issues in data ethics confronted in data science arenas.  

Students who have completed the Statistics Minor will not be eligible for the Data Science Minor. 

Students may not receive both the Statistics Minor and the Data Science Minor.

We encourage students planning to pursue the Data Science Minor to meet with an advisor in the College of Sciences Student Success Center or the Statistics & Data Science Undergraduate Advisor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to map out appropriate program electives with respect to major of study and data science related interests.

Pre-requisites: CS 150 , CS 150L , STAT 250  (7 units)

In addition to these courses listed, a program student may choose data science courses with approval of the Statistics & Data Science Undergraduate Advisor in the Division of Statistics & Data Science in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
