Physics, B.A. (2025-2026) - Roadmap
The physics BA degree is an alternative to the BS degree for students that are not interested in an academic or industrial research career. The degree provides students with a solid lower-division background in physics and mathematics. 15 upper-division units have to be from the physics curriculum. The remaining 9 upper-division classes are elective and can overlap with GE Natural Science. The degree has room to complete a minor in addition to the BA. It is also an excellent preparation for Medical School as all pre-med and BA requirements can be completed within 120 units and medical physics classes can be applied to it.
All candidates for a degree in liberal arts and sciences must complete the graduation requirements listed in the section of this catalog on “Graduation Requirements .” A master plan of the courses taken to fulfill the major must be approved by the undergraduate adviser. No more than 48 units in physics courses can apply to the degree.
A minor is not required with this major.
