Art, Emphasis in Multimedia, B.A. in Applied Arts and Sciences

Impacted Program

The multimedia emphasis is designated as an impacted program and specific criteria, which include a portion of the Preparation for the Major, are used to admit students. To be admitted to the multimedia emphasis, students must meet the following criteria:

Preparation for the Major

(30 units)

• ART 100 - Drawing I Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC).
• ART 101 - Two Dimensional Design Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC).

• ART 102 - Drawing II Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC).

• or

• ART 104 - Artists and Designers in Real Time Units: 3 But not both must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC).

• ART 103 - Three Dimensional Design Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC).

• ART 107 - Photography and Visual Communication Units: 3

• or

• ART 242 - Typography I Units: 3 But not both.

•  

• ART 240 - Fundamentals of Digital Media Units: 3
• ART 258 - Introduction to Art History I Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC).
• ART 259 - Introduction to Art History II Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC).

Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement

Completing one of the approved upper division writing courses (W) with a grade of C (2.0) or better. See “Graduation Requirements ” section for a complete listing of requirements.

Major

A minimum of 30 upper division units in art to include

• ART 340 - Digital Photography I Units: 3
• ART 344 - Design for the Internet I Units: 3
