The Asian American Studies (AAS) program provides an interdisciplinary and rigorous liberal arts education. The program offers a Bachelor of Arts major and a Minor in Asian American Studies. These are designed to develop crucial skills, which employers are seeking: critical analysis, writing, and communication. The coursework teaches students the histories, politics, arts, and cultures of Asian Americans in the United States. The coursework also provides students the ability to apply Asian American Studies to professional fields such as medicine and health, business, and nonprofits. Students will be trained in self-empowerment skills and the skills needed to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
Minor Requirements:
15 units total from Asian American Studies courses, with 3 units from lower-division courses and 12 units from upper-division courses. A minimum of 6 upper-division units must be completed at SDSU.
No course may be used to satisfy the requirements for both a major and a minor.
