Since its inception in 1961, the College of Engineering has evolved into a top choice for engineering students and researchers from all over the globe. The College delivers broad-spectrum, world-class engineering education, combined with practical research and hands-on experiences. Consistent with the role and mission of the California State University system, the faculty of the College of Engineering believes its mission is to provide diverse students with a quality undergraduate and graduate engineering education; to prepare graduates for professional careers and life-long learning; to promote the creation and dissemination of knowledge; to serve society through professional practice and community outreach; to think with an international perspective; to design solutions that meet human and societal needs; and to act as a catalyst for the technological development of the San Diego region and beyond. The College offers seven undergraduate majors organized into the Departments of Aerospace, Civil, Construction, and Environmental, Electrical and Computer, and Mechanical Engineering. At the graduate level, the college offers the Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering. The college offers doctoral degrees in Bioengineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Structural engineering jointly with the University of California, San Diego. The College of Engineering is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education. The College of Engineering undergraduate programs in aerospace, civil, computer, construction, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
