PORT 203 - Intermediate Portuguese I

General Education: Humanities [3B]

Grading Method: LCR: Letter Grade with Cr/NC available. The grading default for the class will be letter grade, but students can opt to take it for Cr/NC

Prerequisite(s): PORT 102 or PORT 110 or completion of the third year of high school Portuguese.

Continuation of first-year Portuguese. Practices of grammar, listening reading, speaking, and writing. Adoption of a communicative approach to develop intermediate-mid level skills in Portuguese.  Course uses language acquisition skills to help students understand cultural differences and develop a global perspective.

Formerly numbered: Portuguese 301
Note: Not open to students with credit in PORT 204  or a higher-numbered Portuguese course. Taught in Portuguese. Native speakers of Portuguese will not receive credit for taking lower division courses in Portuguese except with advance approval from the department. No credit will be given for lower division courses taken after successfully completing any upper division Portuguese course taught in Portuguese. No credit will be given for PORT 101 , PORT 102 , PORT 110 , PORT 203, PORT 204  taken out of sequence.
