CJ 401 - A Racialized History of Policing in America Units: 3
Grading Method: LCR: Letter Grade with Cr/NC available. The grading default for the class will be letter grade, but students can opt to take it for Cr/NC
Prerequisite(s): CJ 300 ; sophomore, junior or senior standing; upper division major status; only open to Criminal Justice, Social Work and Public Administration; or Race and Policing Undergraduate Certificate students.
Expose issues of policing through the lens of race; highlight the voices and perspectives to explain low levels of trust between the police and Black communities; explore historical and contemporary social unrest that emanate from police operations, practices and policies.
