Race and Policing Certificate

This program explores race, policing, and community safety by exposing students to research, history, and the lived experiences of racial minorities and the criminal processing system in the United States.

Topics focus on racial disparities that result from the pervasive influence of “routine” encounters, contacts, and interactions between police officers and community members. To better understand these disparities by race, empirical research on bias in policing, and its deleterious effects on law enforcement organizations and communities of color will be studied.
