Instructional Design Advanced Certificate

This certificate is for learning and training professionals who want to hone their instructional design, facilitation, consultation, or project management skills. Students who complete this certificate program go on to take the lead in conceptualizing and producing a wide variety of learning interventions, from self-paced tutorials to complex solutions for specific instructional, training or management needs. 

Students must complete a minimum of 12 units with a 3.0 (B) grade point average and no less than a 2.0 (C) in any course. Students must submit an application for admission. For application or further information, visit the website of Learning Design and Technology (ldt.sdsu.edu). Students may transfer their courses towards a M.A. program before they earn the certificate. Before admission, students may take up to 50% of the total units through SDSU’s open university.

Prerequisites: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a grade point average of at least 2.85 (when A equals 4) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted. Prior experiences with instructional design are preferred but not required.

Required Courses


(6 units)

Experienced learning professionals may request a waiver of LDT 540  and replace it with LDT 515 , LDT 525  or LDT 561 .
