(SIMS Code: 117030)
The interdisciplinary minor in science, technology, and society studies examines the dynamic and changing ways that science and technology influence, and are shaped by, culture, social relations, and institutions. The minor provides students with the intellectual tools necessary to understand the rapid and profound transformations of our social environment resulting from the development of new technologies and the changing relations between scientific expertise and public discourse.
Courses in the minor may not be counted toward the major, but may be used to satisfy preparation for the major and general education requirements, if applicable. A minimum of six upper division units must be completed in residence at San Diego State University.
