Counseling and Social Change Minor

Courses in the minor may not be counted toward the major, but may be used to satisfy preparation for the major and general education requirements, if applicable. A minimum of six upper division units must be completed in residence at San Diego State University.

Required Courses


The minor in counseling and social change consists of a minimum of 18 units, at least 12 units of which must be upper division selected from Counseling and School Psychology 320, 400, 401, 460.

Lower Division Electives

Three lower division elective units selected from africana studies, asian studies, child and family development, counseling and school psychology, education, psychology, social work, sociology, or women’s studies. Elective units must address central themes of the minor and be selected with consent of the counseling and social change undergraduate adviser.
