One course taught in English may apply to the certificate. Courses in the certificate may not be used towards the minor. No more than six units from the certificate can be used in the Islamic and Arabic studies major.

The basic certificate in Arabic requires a minimum of 14 units in upper division courses taught in Arabic to include:
