Impacted Program

The emphasis in production is designated as an impacted program. To be considered for admittance to the television, film and new media major with an emphasis in production, students must meet the following criteria:

1. These courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC);
   • THEA 100  must be completed with a grade of B (3.0) or better
   • TFM 160  must be completed with a grade of B (3.0) or better
   • TFM 110  must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better
   • THEA 120  must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better

• Three Units Selected from (must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better)

  • ART 258  
  • ART 259  
  • MUSIC 151  
  • THEA 115  or THEA 130  

2. Submit a personal statement to be evaluated by the faculty;
3. Submit two letters of recommendation to be evaluated by the faculty;
4. Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better;
5. Submit samples of visual creative work;
6. Submit a treatment for a 1-3 minute production (fiction or nonfiction).

Preparation for the Major

(15 units)

• TFM 110 - Writing for Television and Film Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken credit/no credit (Cr/NC)
• TFM 160 - Cinema as Art Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of B (3.0) or better and cannot be taken credit/no credit (Cr/NC)
• THEA 100 - The Art of Theatre Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of B (3.0) or better and cannot be taken credit/no credit (Cr/NC)
• THEA 120 - Heritage of Storytelling Units: 3 must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better and cannot be taken credit/no credit (Cr/NC)

Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement

Complete RWS 305W  with a grade of C (2.0) or better. See “Graduation Requirements ” section for a complete listing of requirements.

Major

A minor is not required with this major.
